I've finished the head using Photoshop 3D layers and Maya. I'm generally quite happy with it, but I now know that I can go on to produce even better models/textures/uv maps and lighting. This is the foundation for progress.

Texture Test!
Texturing the human head just now! Importing the object file in to Photoshop and using the 3D layers to paint/wrap the textures round the object. Fun and cross software utilization!

Quick snap of the rear end of the car. Just gotta put some rear lights in and a tweaks. Then all that's left it wheels, interior and side windows...lest I forget something. DOORS!

Car Progress
Started on the headlights this morning. Had some issued with the sphere that went in as the actual light. Happy with it in the 2nd image. Also tweaked the bonnet with some added edge loops. Looking fierce. On to the windows and back lights next!

All the things.
Quick update on everything so far.
Hut textures. Playing about with ambient lighting too, purely for the sake of these text renders to show progress.
The rocking chair and jetty planks.
Just go to update the swamp file now and get everything in place!

UV got to be kidding me!
The hut is finished! For the sake of the film and to save time, the floor isn't modelled, but will be for my showreel, along with other props to go with it!
Sick and tired of looking at grey? Me too! The hut is being UV mapped and textured today! Here's a snap shot!

Hut Hut 42!
Getting there with the hut. Just got to throw on the back wall, roof and door! Oh and a floor wouldn't go a miss too!

Wee Update
Added a little bit more to the hut. I had to go through every plank and bevel them all, but then the Interactive Split Tool decided to not play ball! Had to resort to using the old split poly tool, so it's on the custom shelf now. Good old MEL script and a helping hand from a certain 3D maestro! Issues aside,I'm in work mode. I must remember to eat though.

(Jabba) the Hut
I've been working on the hut for the swamp! Here's a quick post of the porch and support beams. By the end of today, I should have more of it completed! Hopefully the walls, roof and front steps.

Swamp Life
Updating the swamp from the animatic version. Adding in the trees, new land mass, various objects, the Shack ( Laura's doing that modelling that ), water and fog. It will all need textured, but I'm getting there. Lighting to come too!

Fog Test for Swamp
Playing about with some simple tests for fog in Maya. Having a half day off of modeling trees and swamp related things.

Trees, Trees and more Trees
I'm currently modeling various trees for the swamp scene for the film Krokodi. Here are some snapshots of the tree in Maya. I'm making some good use out of the sculpt geometry tool!
I'm getting more and more into getting some 'wrinkles' at the base of the trees and I want to experiment with different kinds of roots. Another 6 or 7 of these trees to go and we should be good for starting to lay out the scene properly. I'll play about with modeling some other 'junk' to go in the swamp, as well as some land geometry. Then it's on to dirty swampy water tests, along with some fog/swamp mist :D

It's been a while!
It's been a little while since I've updated my blog. A lot has changed in recent months! I was feeling a bit low working by myself on my project, so rather than producing a film, I'm opting for a showreel as my final output for my course. I'm currently working on a film called Krokodi, in which I will be handling the modeling of a swamp, which will include various trees, broken fences, some water and some fog amongst other things.
I've also been keeping myself busy by starting to model a car, based on a Fiat 500. Now it may not come out as an exact replica of a Fiat 500, but that wee car is my main inspiration and I think it will be slightly more stylised and curvy!
I am however, continuing to model my human head, with tweaks being performed weekly and the 'proper' eyes still to be modeled. Eventually I will get round to texturing and setting up some renders for it.
It's all about keeping myself busy and keeping my motivation and work flowing. Until next time!
This is the car in it's early stages!
